let's talk about volcanoes, earthquakes, and mountains

Volcanoes

what is a volcano

A volcano is a cooling vent for the earth or a way to get the heat from the inside of the earth to the outside.

Athanasius kircher

Although the geology was wrong he thought the planet had a flaming core that fuelled the volcanoes when the gods were mad at them.
He was part wrong but it was a start

How is a volcano formed

Volcanoes are formed when the plate tectonics start to over lap one another and push the other up.

Also if magma is pushed to the surface then it will keep going and going and usually flow down the sides and build up.
But how does it get to the surface there is a theory that the sun and moon will draw out the magma from the core.

Shield cone volcano

This volcano will ooze out lava it will not explode.
it is formed when hot lava push it’s way to the surface that oozes down the sides

Cinder cone volcano

A cinder cone volcano is formed when one plate sinks beneath another and it is near water so when the water reaches the magma it will start to build pressure

Strata Cone Volcanoes

A strata cone volcano spites ash and it could ooze magma.
This is made the same way as the shield volcano.

Mountains

What is a mountain

A mountain is a large landform that stretches above the surrounding in a limited usually in the form of a peak.

How mountains are formed

Mountains are formed when two plates are either pulled away or pushed together.

Earthquakes

What are earthquakes

An earthquake is what happens when built energy in the earths crust forces a plate to smash into another plate.
Which can result in destruction

How can we measure an Earthquake

To measure an earthquake you need a seismometer also known as a seismograph
Also scientist can now tell how the earth is moving by earth quakes

How do earthquakes happen

It is caused when masses of rock suddenly shift far below the earths surface.
It then sends a rumble through the earth causing an earthquake.
But the earthquakes that happen don’t have to be huge it can be minor as well.

Folds

The term fold is used in geology when one or a stack of originally flat and planar surfaces, such as sedimentary strata, are bent or curved as a result of plastic

Faults

a fault or fault line is a planar fracture in rock in which the rock on one side of the fracture has
moved with respect to the rock on the other side.
